The Dallas Arboretum would like to thank you in advance for your interest in donating a lasting gift.  There are many ways to place a name for long-term acknowledgement in the garden.  We offer trees and special designated areas as a special way to remember and honor friends and loved ones.

The Dallas Arboretum has a Master Plan approved by our Board of Directors for the 25 year build-out of our garden. There are many new areas that we would like to add to the garden, but we know that major gifts need to be in place to construct such new sites, so gifts at this level are significant. We welcome the opportunity to share with you our dreams, and can design a plan that meets our mutual needs.  We invite you to contact us directly if you wish to select a tree or make a garden area donation.

TREE HONORARIUM PROGRAM
We invite you to select a tree to honor or recognize someone special in your life.  Specific trees within the gardens have been designated for tree honorariums.  There are many beautiful varieties of trees available. An Arboretum staff member will personally tour the gardens with you to select the perfect tree.  Each tree is placed within the garden as an integral part of that garden’s design. The Arboretum gives extraordinary care to its trees: pruning, fertilizing and watering regularly to ensure your long-term gift.

How are trees marked?
The Arboretum has a standardized labeling system throughout the gardens. The label used for trees measures 3” by 5” and is made of black metal with silver lettering. It stands on a black metal stake.

What can I put on the tree label?
The label has a maximum of four lines of type. The first two lines are reserved for botanical information: botanical name of tree and common name. The bottom portion of the label is reserved for your message and is subject to approval by the Arboretum. These two lines can accommodate approximately 87 characters, including spaces and punctuation. We recommend wording such as, “In tribute to …”, “In honor of…”, “On the birth of …”, etc. We do not use “In memory of” but rather “In the name of” a deceased person.

What is the contribution for a tree honorarium?
There are several levels of contributing to a tree honorarium. The highest level, at $25,000, endows your honorarium for life. At the $5,000 and $3,000 levels, your honorarium is endowed for the life of the tree or 10 years (whichever occurs first) and the exact amount is determined by location.  We wish to work with you on a selection and gift amount that meets your needs.

Can other family members or friends be notified of a tree honorarium?
Yes, we take special care to notify individuals with a personal letter that will include specific information about the tree and its location.
